Since leaving the UK approximately 10 years ago, I can honestly say that I have been out of touch with what is going on in my hometown,London (UK). Every once in a while I will stumble upon a negative article about today’s youth but this is the only news I have come across about the culture within the young adult demographic. This could easily build a sad and hopeless image of where my city is going. However, I am an optimist at heart and I always seek the silver lining, the lesson or the good in everything. So I decided to spread good news instead.
Inspired by Tomayia Colvin’s Unboxed project and the reasons above, I decided to go out and meet a few positive young citizens of the great city of London. I was only in London for 3 weeks ( for my sisters traditional African wedding), but it was important for me to both get to know and photograph some of London’s finest. I met a total of 4 individuals. However, today I present Kyanne.
Photographing Kyanne was an honor. She exemplified great character traits that I too would love for my own daughters to have when they are her age. Although she has just completed her last year in college (UK), which is what is called high school in the USA, she has a keen idea of what her next step will be. She loves photography, but more importantly, she loves to represent her Grenadian roots any means necessary. I love this about her. Despite just recently coming of her age, Kyanne is confident, certain about who she is and motivated to make her print on this earth. Kyanne, I salute you! Make both Grenada and London proud!
Stayed tuned for my next HS Graduate 2018. A young talented and handsome individual.
In the meantime, if you would like for me to create portraits of your HS Senior here in Atlanta, please click here or fill out the short form on the side bar. I am looking forward to connecting with you.
See you next week!
